Summary of the roofboxes available under the Halfords own label

Starting with the highest price at around £250 and running down to around £100, here is the range of Halfords car roofboxes with some comments and information about each one that we hope you find helpful. Where the information is available, we've also included a brief summary of any reviews we could find.

Please note: These roofboxes all have equivalents in the Exodus range from Halfords, which feature black or graphite and dark grey colours and a quick fit system for mounting onto your car roof.

The reviews for all these boxes are generally good, with some comments that for the larger boxes it can be easier to fit when you have the quick fit system. However this has not affected their performance, just the convenience.

580 litre Halfords roof box in silver

This is the sort of roof box that would suit a large family taking a lot of extra stuff on holiday as it has the equivalent space to a large family estate car. It has an aerodynamic design to help fuel savings, which also reduces noise and a set of extra features to give it top range status amongst roofboxes.

These include scratch resistant material which is UV protected, a sprung lid that stays open on its own and central locking. It mounts with U bolts and can hold 60kg of load. Dimensions are 195 x 99 x 45 cm making it a full width box.

You'll find with this size of box that you will need some ladders and probably two people to help get it up and fixed on the roof of your car. Priced around £260.

580 litre roof box - standard design

This is a version of the 580 litre box, in silver, but without the full aero design. Price: around £240.

Halfords 470 litre silver roofbox (2009 model)

This is the next size down from Halfords and is around the same size as a large family car boot, being full width and holding 60kg weight. Like the larger model it has an aerodynamic design and is in the scratch resistant material used throughout with UV protection.

Again it has the lid which stays open on its own, opening from one side and a U bolt mounting method. Size is: 165 x 95 x 41 cm at a weight of 15kg. This is also available in black in the Exodus range. Typical price: £200.

Halfords 360 litre roofbox (2009 model)

This is a mid size model with equivalent space to an average family car boot with measurements of 190 x 65 x 40 cm with a weight capacity of 60kg.

Importantly, this car roofbox is narrow enough to allow space for other roof mounted accessories like cycle carriers. It also has the aero design of the previous models, with the same materials and lid functioning, U bolt fitting and central lock. Also available in black in Exodus range. Priced around £270.

360 litre standard design

Slightly less aero design with a similar capacity to the previous model. Also allows for other roof mounted items as its not full width. Available in carbon fibre finish as the Exodus model. Typical price: £150.

340 litre grey Halfords roofbox

This is a standard design roofbox from Halfords, measuring 130 x 85 x39 cm with a weight load limit of 10kg. Its a full width box giving around the same capacity as a medium car boot. It mounts with U bolts, has a central lock, but unlike the previous models, this roofbox opens at the rear. Priced around £150.

250 litre grey Halfords roofbox

Giving you around the same space as a small car boot, this roofbox has a load capacity of 50kg and measures 132 x 62 x 36cm, with a central lock. Its half width, which gives space for other items such as cycles on a cycle carrier and it mounts with U bolts, like the other models.

Easy to fix and move around as it is quite light. Priced around £100.
